Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff: a review

Title: Aurora Rising

Author(s): Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Publication Date: May 7th 2019

Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy

“From the internationally bestselling authors of THE ILLUMINAE FILES comes an epic new science fiction adventure.”

Basically, I loved this book. Jay Kristoff always amazes me with his descriptive story telling and plots. I loved his Lif3Like novel and so I knew I needed to give this book a read!

Although I loved this book, I did find it a little confusing at points. I know said I loved his descriptive way of telling the story, but I felt like this book was a little too wordy and descriptive, so much so that I actually got lost and confused at times which made the chapter or scene a little confusing to read. Another thin I struggled with was the constant change of point of view. There were so many POV changes that I kept forgetting who I was reading the chapter with.

I absolutely LOVED the characters!! Finian was such a sweet angel and I loved his sassy and fast-paced thinking and comments! Not going to lie though, Cat was very annoying when I was reading from her point of view, her jealousy was just putting me off of her character.

I also really loved the plot line and the cool and unexpected situations which happened!! It was definitely not what I thought it was going to be like.

Another thing I loved about this book was the character and alien species descriptions!! All the aliens that were described seemed so unique and different which was a breath of fresh air. Plus, Kal literally has my heart 💗 he was so protective and I loved the be’shmai thing!

I’M SO PUMPED FOR AURORA RISNG #2 !!

I definitely recommend this beautiful book for scifi and space lovers !!

Have a great day/night!
